06-02-2025 - 7:45 AM - Good Morning! It's Monday, and it's already time to mow the yard again. Rain is forecast for the rest of the week, so I can't put it off. I see it as exercise rather than a chore, so I don't complain as much. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
06-01-2025 - About a half-mile south of Sheppard Air Force Base, on southbound Sheppard Access Road, just past the storage facility, you can still see what remains of the tracks of McCain's Funny Farm (Go-Karts). On the other side of Sheppard Access Road, a little farther south was another go-kart track. You're no "spring chicken" if you drove a kart at either track.
06-01-2025 - I've been scanning the 20-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band looking for Parks on the Air® stations to work on CW (Morse code), but the band is pretty flat. I'll see what's happening on the CB Radio.
06-01-2025 - I remember hearing about a guy who was barred from both Sikes Senter Mall and Walmart years ago. I thought to myself that, in Wichita Falls, this might be grounds to commit seppuku!

06-01-2025 – Here are a few civilian plane crashes from the files. In February of 1961, a Cessna 150 crashed into a residential garage near Kickapoo Airport injuring two men. In September of 1967, a small plane crashed on 13th Street near Travis, killing the two occupants. Several witnesses reported seeing the plane in a spin with the engine producing power. In July of 1982, a plane crashed onto a residential lawn near Kickapoo Airport, killing the two occupants. In the early 1980s, a small Cessna ran out of fuel on approach to Kickapoo Airport. On the turn from the downwind leg to final (no time for a base leg!), the pilot unintentionally ran out of airspeed and altitude at the same time, landing on the parking lot across Hatton Road. The airplane was bent, but no one was injured. I saw that one. Running out of fuel can get you a spanking from the FAA.

06-01-2025 - According to a story at Texoma's Home Page (KFDX), a person was shot on Friday at our local Love's Truck Stop and transported to the hospital. I wondered why I didn't hear chatter about it on the CB Radio until I noticed that it happened at 10:45 PM. I was sound asleep! No further details provided.
06-01-2025 - It's Simplex Sunday, a day to give those Amateur Radio repeaters a break and flex those simplex muscles!

06-01-2025 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Sunday! The Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds a weekly informal net on Sundays at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. As far as I know, all licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Of course, scanner radio enthusiasts can also tune in. It's early, but I've got the CB Radio on 40-channel scan to in case activity erupts. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
05-31-2025 - My Walmart struggle used to be finding a shopping cart that doesn't have a mind of its own. Now, my focus is on dodging those pesky Spectrum salespeople. I changed aisles, and the salesman pursued and intercepted me. Not acceptable.

05-31-2025 - The Times Record News featured a story about the Tacos Y Tortas Restaurant in the Southmoor Shopping Center at Midwestern Parkway and Jacksboro Highway. I couldn't read the story because I'm not a TRN subscriber, but the photo of the refried beans, rice, and tacos was mouth-watering. An investigation might be in order!
