06-25-2025 - From the U.S. Federal Trade Commission -The Federal Trade Commission is sending refunds totaling more than $126 million to players of the popular video game Fortnite who were charged for unwanted purchases while playing the game. From Omar from OMARC, the One-Man Amateur Radio Club : If this affect you, you probably already know about it.
06-25-2025 - The year was 1976, and the scene was somewhere at Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert. I was on my second enlistment in the U.S. Army, with two years remaining. It was my first of several trips to Fort Irwin for war games. Some of you might be familiar with the "shelter half" used in those days. Each soldier carried a "shelter half," or half of a two-person pup tent, including tent poles and pegs. Two soldiers put their halves together, and nighty-night! You were out of luck if you were left without a bunk buddy when the music stopped. I have no idea what they use today. I never worried about a bunk buddy because I had "acquired" a second shelter half and shelter half accessories, meaning I could have a two-person tent all to myself. I was asleep in my spacious tent one night when a cold wind blew it down on top of me. All I could do was gather it and pull it over me like a blanket. I knew then that that I would not re-enlist again.

06-25-2025 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Wednesday. The Texas Rangers squeaked out a win last night. Let's see if they can repeat that feat tonight. I see ZZ Top is coming to town in November. Will AA Bottom open for them? Probably not. According to a story on Texoma's Home Page (KFDX), a man has been charged with burglarizing the Kate apartment building. A photo shows the suspect looking in the direction of the security camera. Did he think it was a dummy camera? In other KFDX news, 22 people have pleaded guilty to drug-related charges following a two-year investigation by local and federal authorities. I remember a huge drug bust back in 1971 and the list of arrestees published in the newspaper. I remember seeing a few people I knew and one "Graduate Assistant" from MSU. Those days, the newspaper published the names of people who received traffic citations! My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

The FTC alleged that Care used deceptive advertising that vastly overstated the number of jobs available on its platform and made unsubstantiated claims about how much job seekers could expect to earn through these jobs. The complaint also alleged that Care used unlawful tactics to prevent consumers—both job posters and job seekers—from canceling their subscriptions.

06-24-2025 - About 15 years ago, I found an interesting item on my front door: Joe's Adsheet. I'll use the name Joe because I can't remember the actual name. What I do remember is that someone in the neighborhood was displaying an awesome level of entrepreneurial spirit. The adsheet invited people to submit ads for the next issue. I never saw another copy of the adsheet. Maybe the publisher didn't give it enough time. Or perhaps he distributed many adsheets and got little or no response. I must admit that I was one of the non-responders because I didn't have anything to advertise at the time. Now, I have Omar from OMARC, the One-Man Amateur Radio Club but no neighborhood adsheet.
