07-01-2025 - 6:15 AM - Good Morning. It's Tuesday and the first day of July. The Texas Rangers put on a pretty good show last night, but they still lost. We got some nice rain last night. It looks like our water-supplying lakes got a good dose of it, also. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

07-01-2025 - 6:15 AM - According to Water Data for Texas, Wichita Falls reservoirs are: Arrowhead: 98.2% Kemp: 100% Kickapoo: 100%. Monitored Water Supply Reservoirs are 99.3% full. The City of Wichita Falls uses combined levels of Arrowhead and Kickapoo (99.1%) to determine drought stage.

07-01-2025 - 6:15 AM - ERCOT (Texas) snapshot of grid conditions - ERCOT reports that conditions are normal and there is enough power for current demand with an operating reserve of 9,684 Megawatts.

07-01-2025 - 6:15 AM - NWS Forecast - Today: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

07-01-2025 - We have a slight jaywalking problem on Scott Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets. People going to and coming from the Wichita County Courthouse Annex are crossing Scott at places other than the crosswalk. Unless there has been a change in WFPD regulations, jaywalking is not enforced in Wichita Falls. The reason is that it has not been enforced as long as anyone can remember, and the WFPD leadership doesn't want "Barney Fife" or any other officer enforcing it unless and until a public information announcement is made. But, the courthouse jaywalking itself isn't the big problem. The big problem is that drivers are stopping mid-block to let these people cross. No! No! No!. If they're going to jaywalk, make them wait for an opening. That's my opinion. Yours might vary. If the WFPD regulations have changed, please let me know.

07-01-2025 - Just a reminder: Wichita Falls needs a new slogan or tagline. Blue Skies and Golden Opportunities won't cut it. Every city has blue skies, and just what are those golden opportunities? Of course, your opinion might vary.

07-01-2025 - Prison gun towers rock! Working in them doesn't necessarily rock, but the wind can make them rock. I regularly listen to radio communications from the nearby Allred Unit. I have reliable information that the towers sway a little in high winds, but not enough to cause concern. That is, until you see the four relatively small bolts that hold it to the concrete base. If there's a prison near you, check it out on your scanner!

07-01-2025 - At 2:00 PM, the CB Radio band is dead. When there's not a peep on Channel 6, the "superbowl" of CB Radio, you know it's time to find something else to do.

07-01-2025 - There has been a lot of "testing" on 151.820 MHz this afternoon. Someone is "keying up" as if they're testing something, maybe antenna tuning. No voice or other information, just short transmissions. The signal, on 151.820 MHz, is a frequency in the Multi-Use Radio Service and is full-scale at my location. I think MURS use is slowly increasing around Wichita Falls, and this is a good thing.
