07-22-2023 - 9:30 AM - The band is in full swing! To my ears, when the band is wide open, the heterodynes on Channel 19 are distinctly different from those on other channels. There is a unique musical quality to it. Your opinion might vary.
07-22-2025 - 3:00 PM - An oversized load is passing through town with operations conducted on Channel 19. I'd like to know what they're moving.
07-22-2025 - 6:00 PM - Our Local Group is on the air on Channel 23. I don't know if they arrived at their usual 5:30 PM time, as I was listening elsewhere.
07-21-2025 - 6:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Monday, and I'm hoping to hear more radio traffic on 151.940 MHz. I'm still trying to identify this area's latest semi-regular user of that frequency. It's no big deal, but scanners gotta scan! There's zero traffic on the CB Radio so far this morning. I'm sure a big CB Radio day is just around the corner. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
07-21-2025 - 6:20 AM - A local "superbowl" (Channel 6) operator just made a call to see if anyone was "copying the mail", but he didn't get an answer. It's early. Channel 1 was active with local chatter, as usual. I think it's a company operation of some kind involving trucking.
07-21-2025 - 6:40 AM - Nellie Ohr and her "Ham Radio" license are popping up on X (formerly known as Twitter) again. They think she got a license to engage in "secret squirrel" stuff. If you're going to conduct nefarious activities on Ham Radio, why would you bother to get a license? You certainly don't need a license to purchase the equipment. Life would be no fun without conspiracy theorists. I need more coffee!

07-21-2025 - 11:55 AM - From the U.S Federal Trade Commission - FTC Halts Illegal Debt-Relief Operation that Falsely Impersonated Businesses and the Government, Harming Consumers - Agency says Accelerated Debt Settlement primarily targeted older consumers, including veterans, and falsely claimed they could reduce consumers’ debt by up to 75% or more.
07-21-2025 - 12:15 PM - Due to maintenance, we have a lane closure on U.S. 287, but there is a surprisingly low amount of discussion about it on CB Radio Channel 19. I don't know what to think about that. So, I won't. It is what it is.

7-21-2025 - 2:45 PM - On X, formerly known as Twitter, someone described CB Radio as "the Wild West of pissed off truckers." I can understand that sentiment—some people like the Wild West.
07-21-2025 - 2:55 PM - I'm not saying that Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS) clubs don't exist, but I haven't found any evidence of them. Of course, I haven't looked hard for one. But, here's what I do know. Once a MURS user finds that there are two more MURS users within range, that person will try to form a MURS Radio club. And, once someone discovers that there are three MURS Radio clubs, they will try to create an association of MURS Radio Clubs. You watch!
07-21-2025 - 3:45 PM - The local guys are back on 151.880 MHz, chewing the rag, as the "hams" say. I haven't heard them in a few days. This frequency is in the license-free Multi-Use Radio Service. We need more MURS use around here and not the Dakota Alert "Alert Zone One" stuff. That's just my opinion.
07-21-2025 - 4:30 PM - An oversized load is moving through town with operations on CB Radio Channel 31. This event is the only one I've heard today. As for regular-size loads, I always wonder what some of the trucks are carrying. Just because it says (pick a famous name) on the side, doesn't mean that company owns the truck or has anything to do with the cargo. Space alien artifacts? Nuclear warheads? We'll never know.
07-21-2025 - 6:00 PM - The Local Group is on the air on CB Radio Channel 23 and having a good time. My town needs more "Local Groups" on the CB Radio. There are plenty more channels to choose from.
07-20-2025 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Sunday and moon landing day! I watched it on TV in 1969. I have zero time for deniers. What would CB Radio sound like if all the amplifiers disappeared? If no one had one, no one would need one. You may need to work on making a contact. Wait for conditions to change. Make several calls. I derive more satisfaction from a long-distance contact made with my stock radios and ground-plane antenna than I would from an amplifier-assisted contact. But I accept the fact that amplifiers are a fact of life and not worth worrying about. By the way, it's an amplifier, not a linear. Look up linear in the dictionary and tell me where you see any mention of an amplifier. As I said before, calling an amplifier a linear is like calling a car a red or a blue. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
07-20-2025 - 6:50 AM - I've had the President McKinley on 40-channel scan since 5:00 AM, and I just heard the first hint of a signal on Channel 35. The signals are getting stronger, so they might be mobile units headed my way on the highway. I just had a flashback of my first trip from Texas to the Savanna Army Depot in Savanna, Illinois. It was December 1974. Headed south on the highway was an 18-wheeler with no windshield. The driver was bundled up so thoroughly that he looked like the Michelin Man. What happened to the windshield? Is one required? Did he reach his destination without drawing police attention? Did he freeze solid and run off the road? I remember being glad it was him and not me.
07-20-2025 - 7:20 AM - An oversized load of some sort is passing through town with communications conducted on Channel 33. Someone in the group is probably monitoring Channel 19.

07-20-2025 - 8:30 AM - It was about 30 years ago when I spotted a group of CB Radio antenna-equipped cars on the parking lot of a business that had closed for the day. I drove onto the lot to see what was happening. One of the vehicle occupants told me they were having a "keydown." This exercise is one where everyone transmits, identifies, and a station on the other side of town would tell them which one was the loudest. I said, "Cool! Y'all have fun," and I drove clear of the amplifier-boosted radio frequency crossfire! It immediately occurred to me that this is not unlike Ham Radio DX pileups. All the hams scream and, when the dust settles, the DX station tells them who was loudest.
