07-31-2025 - 8:00 PM - The CB Radio band is on fire this evening with activity on half of the 40 channels. I threw out my call on a few channels, but my 4-watt output isn't making a dent tonight. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Mostly doesn't, but that's the way I like it. If I know I'm going to make the contact (amplifier), the fun is gone. I like surprises, so I don't use amplifiers.
07-30-2025 - 5:45 AM - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, and that means zip, zero, zilch to me since I have nothing to do today except play on the radio. I just read the article on Texoma's Home Page about the City's grand idea for Sikes Senter Mall. Let's see if it works. I have doubts. As I said previously, Wichita Falls is just big enough to attract nice things but not big enough to keep them. We don't have the population. I like my idea better. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
07-30-2025 - 5:50 AM - Wichita Falls NWS Forecast - Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. South wind around 6 mph becoming west in the morning. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 75. South southeast wind around 6 mph becoming west after midnight.
07-30-2025 - 6:15 AM - On the CB Radio, Channel 19 is coming alive with local trucking traffic. The band has yet to come alive with long-distance (DX) signals. That's probably just around the corner.
07-30-2025 - 8:45 AM - The CB Radio band is starting to come alive, but it's got a way to go before I would call things booming. Locally, Channel 19 has been unusually quiet the last few hours. Every day is a little different.

07-30-2025 - 10:10 AM - The building housing Locke Electrical Supply at Loop 11 (the loop that doesn't loop) and Seymour Hwy was once a Brookshire's supermarket. Before that, it was a Safeway or some similar chain grocery. Somewhere during the life of one of those stores, an employee wrote "holopeno" on a sign listing the ingredients of a new deli item. That might be a felony in Texas. I think re-assignment to janitorial duties would have been justified.
07-30-2025 - 11:55 AM - Another oversized load is making its way through the city with opoerations being conducted on CB Radio Channel 19.
07-30-2025 - 10:30 AM - At Kirby Junior High, later Kirby Middle School, and now defunct, a teacher was giving a student a stern "talking to" in the hallway. He told the young man that if his performance did not improve, he would end up being a janitor. Just as the word janitor left his lips, he noticed the school janitor standing about 20 feet away. In the same breath, he added, "Not that there's anything wrong with being a janitor!" Do you remember those old "Want to get away?" TV commercials featuring people in embarrassing situations?
07-30-2025 - 3:00 PM - The CB Radio has been quiet this afternoon, with DX conditions mostly flat. There are a couple of stations on Channel 6, but those guys make their own band conditions. I hope they don't set the atmosphere on fire. Local traffic on Channel 19 has been sparse.

07-30-2025 - 6:00 PM - The Local Group is on the air on CB Radio Channel 23. These guys have booming signals. I wonder if they're running more than 4 watts? Certianly not!
07-29-2025 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, another hot day ahead at the Ra7dio3 Report HQ, and it's not even August yet. Well, it's almost August. I'm ready for Winter. I have the CB Radio on 40-channel scan, but not a peep yet. Also, the Clay County Amateur Radio Club conducts a weekly Skywarn® practice net on Tuesdays at 8:00 PM on the 146.800 MHz repeater. Tune in with your scanner radio! My Folgers Black Silk Coffee is ready.
07-29-2025 - 5:10 AM - Wichita Falls NWS Forecast - Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. South wind around 7 mph. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 76. South wind around 6 mph.
07-29-2025 - 7:40 AM - Channel 19 is jumping this morning with local trucking chatter. Band conditions are not yet conducive to long-distance communications, making local conditions pleasantly quiet.
07-29-2025 - 8:30 AM - I mowed the back yard this morning before the temperature gets unbearable. Have you noticed how certain birds will sit on the fence, waiting for you to stir up insects for their snacking pleasure?

07-29-2025 - 12:10 PM - From the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics - Economics Daily - In 2024, 17.6 million men and women were veterans, accounting for about 7 percent of the civilian noninstitutional population age 18 and over. About 12 percent of veterans were women. The unemployment rate for all veterans (3.0 percent) was little changed from a year earlier, but was lower than the rate for nonveterans (3.9 percent). The unemployment rates for male veterans (2.9 percent) and female veterans (3.5 percent) also changed little over this period. The unemployment rate for male veterans was not statistically different from the rate for female veterans.
07-29-2025 - 2:35 PM - Another oversized load is passing through town with pilot cars working on CB Radio Channel 19. More huge wind turbine blades, or associated items? I do not know. There's someone else on the channel with a "roger beep" that sounds like a fart.
07-29-2025 - 3:15 PM - Someone on X, formerly known as Twitter, asked why Wichita Falls doesn't have baseball on any level. In my opinion, and I know nothing about urban economics, Wichita Falls is big enough to attract some nice things, but not big enough to keep all of them. It's not a bad thing, just life in a big one-horse town with a frozen population. Maybe baseball is the missing magic!
07-29-2025 - 5:00 PM - According to news reports, Wichita Falls will one day be home to at least four data centers. I can only hope they will be "RF" quiet. In other words, not emitting noise near the authorized CB Radio and Amateur (ham) Radio frequencies. I'll let the rest of you worry about power consumption.
