04-30-2024 - Good Morning! It's Folgers Black Silk coffee along with CW (Morse code) on the 40-meter band this morning as I attempt to wake up. I only listen on 40 meters. I do my actual CW work on 20 meters. I've never felt a need to work every band and every mode. I remember hearing a ham say that he had five identical radios and five wire antennas, one each for 10, 15, 20, 40, and 80 meters. I don't think that's the norm in Ham Radio, but whatever makes you happy!

04-29-2024 - Good Morning! We attended the Sheppard Air Force Base air show yesterday. Security was tight with an empty-your-pockets search and a walk through a metal detector. Nothing surprising there, considering the times. I was more than a little surprised to see two snipers with scoped rifles on the control tower catwalk. There were a lot of aircraft on display and in the air. The F-16s were deafening at close range. The F-35 was deafening, period! My Folgers Black silk coffee is ready.

04-28-2024 - Good Morning! Thunderstorms kept me awake until way after midnight. Our local Amateur (Ham) Radio Skywarn® storm spotters did a great job. I hope our lakes got a good dose of this rain. I'll see if I can catch day #2 of the Sheppard AFB Air Show. We decided to skip yesterday's show due to the low cloud cover. The Thunderbirds did fly, but I'm betting the show will be better today. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
04-27-2024 - Wichita Falls area Amateur (Ham) Radio Skywarn® storm spotters just put out a briefing on the 146.940 MHz repeater. Two rounds of storms are expected, and the one later tonight might mean trouble. The Net Control Station mentioned APRS and said A-P-R-S rather than the word "APARS." Thank you!
04-27-2024 - It's Saturday at 9:00 AM, and the Montague County Simplex Net is on the air at 147.500 MHz. According to online sources, the net meets Saturdays at 9:00 AM. I can hear a few of the stations, but I'll need a higher antenna to get them all.
04-27-2024 - I made contact with K0YY at Benson Creek State Natural Area (US-7158) in Arkansas on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.

04-27-2024 - Good Morning! It looks like rain, or at least a lot of clouds, is in the forecast for the Sheppard AFB Air Show today. I think I'll go Sunday. I'm still trying to make an Amateur (ham) Radio contact with a park in all 50 U.S. states using Morse code. I've got 12 to go. Those 12, plus others, have been very weak the last few days. I'm not looking for any type of certificate, although they are offered. I want to do it for my satisfaction. My Folger's Black Silk coffee is ready!
04-26-2024 - Space Weather - Turn your radio on. Either the band is open or it's not. That's going to ruffle a few feathers.
