05-14-2024 - Good Morning! I just learned that Lillie's Coffee is now open at 109 W. Omega in Henrietta, Texas. Drop by or give them a call at 940-224-6338. Could this be a good spot for Amateur (ham) Radio eyeball QSOs? In the news, I saw Red Lobster, closures, and bankruptcy all in one sentence. Is this a hint of things to come for our local Red Lobster? Wichita Falls can survive without lobsters. Burgers are another story. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
05-13-2024 - At 9:30 PM, 146.520 MHz FM simplex is getting a workout. It got a good workout this morning, also. We can always use more Amateur (ham) Radio simplex action in the Wichita Falls area!

05-13-2024 - From the U.S. Federal Communications Commission - FCC Enforcement Bureau Classifies ‘Royal Tiger’ As the First Consumer Communications Information Services Threat (C-CIST 1) Enforcement Bureau Warns Regulatory Agencies, Law Enforcement Partners, and Industry Stakeholders of Threat from ‘Royal Tiger’ I. C-CIST-1: Royal Tiger Overview - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission)’s Enforcement Bureau (Bureau) has classified “Royal Tiger,” a group of voice service providers and their managing personnel with multiple international connections, as a Consumer Communications Information Services Threat (C-CIST) due to its repeated origination and transmission of apparently unlawful robocalls related to the impersonation of government entities, banks, and utility companies. Royal Tiger thereby facilitated harmful and apparently unlawful calls targeting consumers in the U.S. and compromised consumer trust in the communications networks. This Advisory serves to heighten awareness of Royal Tiger among regulatory agencies, law enforcement partners, and industry stakeholders to mitigate Royal Tiger’s perpetration of consumer harm and to bolster industry Know Your Customer and Know Your Upstream Provider processes.

05-13-2024 - Good Morning! It's Monday, and I hear the school buses (153.360 MHz) and the City transit buses (453.5375 MHz) starting to move about the town. Wichita Falls lake levels have risen over the last week. We need more of a rise to get us through the summer months. I don't see anything on the radar to indicate that our 40% chance of rain will appear by 10 AM. But there's a 100% chance that I'm about to pour my second cup of Folgers Black Silk Coffee!
05-12-2024 - The Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds a weekly informal net on Sundays at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. All licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Scanner radio enthusiasts are also invited to listen in.
05-12-2024 - I made contact with KF0KDI at Lake Manawa State Park (US-2300) in Iowa on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
05-12-2024 - I made contact with W3CT at Tomlinson Run State Park (US-0629) in West Virginia on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program. This was a tough one with the crappy band conditions coupled with the thunderstorm static crashes!

05-12-2024 - Good Morning! The International Space Station will make another pass at 9:05 PM. I might step outside for a look if the clouds will allow it. I hear some Parks on the Air® activity at 8:30 AM. Maybe today will be better than yesterday when the 20-meter band was dead. There are some thunderstorms on the radar headed this way. Unknown if they will rise to the level needed to get the attention of our local Amateur (ham) Radio Skywarn® storm spotters. It's time for more Folgers Black Silk coffee. At 8:30 AM, I've already had a few cups.
05-11-2024 - No Parks on the Air® today. The 20-meter band was crap all day long. I didn't check any other band as I'm pretty much just a 20-meter guy these days. So far, since January 1, I've worked 158 parks via Morse code.
