05-15-2024 - Good Morning! I hear a conversation on 146.520 FM simplex and they're talking about new local activity on 223.500 MHz. I have one scanner radio that will receive in that range. I have nothing that will transmit there. But that's fine because I just listen 99% of the time. My Parks on the Air® "hunter" count is 165 this morning. A puny amount by POTA standards, but I'm having fun. My coffee is ready, so I'll pour a cup!

05-14-2024 - From my law enforcement consultant - At the WFPD, back in the day, the old radio system did not identify the transmitting officer. Therefore, funny noises on the radio were not uncommon. A few officers would turn on their portable radio, key the car radio, place the car radio microphone near the portable radio, move it back and forth, and cause a wavering squeal similar to a slide flute. At one occurrence a dispatcher yelled, "Stop it! Y'all are coming in my ear!"
