05-30-2024 - This afternoon, I head GMRS traffic - call signs included - on 462.550 and 462.600 MHz. These are repeater output frequencies and I don't think this is local traffic. There must be some tropospheric ducting going on. I didn't hear any call sign clearly enough to check the FCC database.

05-30-2024 - Good Morning! Our lake levels dropped a teeny weenie bit, but that should go back up if we get the predicted rain and that rain falls in the right places. In the Ham Radio world, the eQSL logging site is down this morning. With Logbook of the World and eQSL down, I have no place to log my Parks on the Air® contacts. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready, and that's all that matters! UPDATE: At 6:45 AM, eQSL was back up and running!
05-29-2024 - The ARRL (American Radio Relay League) Logbook of the World (LOTW) has been down for two weeks. I haven't been able to log my Parks on the Air® contacts there. I have been logging on eQSL. It doesn't affect me because I log contacts only for the benefit of the stations I work. Since I don't chase awards of any type, logging is of little use to me. I don't feel a need to look back at my contacts over the years. Many do, and that's cool.
05-29-2024 - I continue to be amused by the number of people on X (Twitter) who think every radio with a microphone is a CB Radio. Oh well, there's one or two things I don't know so I shouldn't complain.
05-29-2024 - ERCOT (Texas) snapshot - Grid Conditions - 6:54 PM - OPERATING RESERVES: 6,864 MW - NORMAL CONDITIONS - ERCOT reports enough power for current demand.
05-29-2024 - According to a KFDX story, the City of Wichita Falls will install new traffic lights on a portion of Scott Avenue. If the City wants to "revitalize and beautify the downtown area" and "give folks passing through a better opportunity to check out all that downtown has to offer" as the story says, they should resurface 10th St. between Scott & Indiana. That section is a visitor-alienating, car-disassembling, bone-rattling, tooth-jarring abomination of a travesty. Okay, that was an exaggeration, but it does need work.
05-29-2024 - From the U.S. Federal Communications Commission - IN THE MATTER OF LINGO TELECOM, LLC . 05-29-2024 - The City of Wichita Falls brought down the 100-year-old water tower at 9th & Beverly. I'd be afraid to see what it looks like inside. I might give up water forever! Maybe ignorance is bliss, after all.
