06-30-2024 - Good Morning! Once again, I was sold the wrong Powerball and Mega Millions tickets for Friday and Saturday. When will I learn? Probably never. I think Bowling for Soup performed at the Iron Horse Pub last night. I've never been to IHP, nor have I ever heard BFS. There's not much on the schedule for today. NASCAR race later today. Maybe, maybe not. I might grab one or two Parks on the Air® contacts. Maybe, maybe not. My coffee is ready. Perhaps that'll help me come up with something.

06-29-2024 - From my Allred Unit consultant - The Olympic trials are on TV, and you can bet the Allred inmates are glued to the screen for the women's Track & Field events. In addition to the visual delights, there are many commissary items to be won and lost. Yes, sporting events = betting. Tune in to Allred Unit daily operations at 153.815 MHz on your scanner radio!

06-29-2024 - Just a week ago, I said we needed a catfish place on the north side of town. Today, I learned that Bradford's Catfish Haus has opened at 1616 Pearlie Drive, just across from the Sheppard AFB Main Gate. Soon, I shall try a 10-piece order to go. I'll let you know how it goes.

06-29-2024 - I know a person who went to work for the Border Patrol in the early 1980s. He resigned after a few years. He said they didn't want to work, and I'll leave it at that.

06-29-2024 - On Loop 11 - the loop that doesn't loop - there are a few places where you need to see oncoming traffic. They planted shrubs designed to hide that traffic at one such place, the "turn-around" just north of Northwest Drive. Traffic safety & median beautification don't always make good bedfellows.

06-29-2024 - Now comes the Texas scorpion invasion. News reports say that due to weather conditions, Texas will see more scorpions this summer than in previous years. The reports say you can easily find them at night because they glow under ultraviolet light. Isn't there a motorcycle club by that name?

06-29-2024 - Good Morning! The United Supermarket at Southwest Parkway and Kemp carries soft drinks from the Dublin Bottling Works in Dublin, Texas. You might remember that, before 2012, the company was named Dublin Dr. Pepper, and they were famous for bottling Dublin Dr. Pepper. Their other flavors are pretty good! My Folgers Black Silk coffee, also pretty good, is ready!

06-28-2024 - From my WFPD consultant - It was the end of the shift, and an officer was completing a major accident report in the lounge of the police station. Because it was an accident with injuries, the officer could not use the small diagram block on the state accident report. Instead, an 8 x 10" sheet of paper had to be used. Having completed the state accident report form and most of the diagram, the officer had to go to his car for something. He left the report on the table. The idea hit me suddenly, and I had to act fast. I scooped up the accident report, ran into the records section, made a copy of the report and diagram, ran back to the lounge, put the copy of the report and diagram on the table, purchased a cup of coffee from the vending machine, poured half of it in the sink, poured the other half on the accident report and diagram, and left the cup, on its side, on the table. I took a seat with other officers in the lounge. The officer came back into the lounge, saw the report, screamed various words in an unknown language, and began looking for someone to kill. I handed him the original report before he could pass out from anger. It took him several minutes to crack a smile in appreciation of a premium prank.

06-28-2024 - After a break of several weeks, I turned on the CB Radio to Channel 38 LSB, and the first thing I hear is, "No doubt about it." Will that phrase ever die? It looks like there's no doubt about it not dying!
