07-19-2024 - Good Morning! If you like CB Radio, you might or might not know there is a local group on the air nightly at 5:30 PM on Channel 23. CB Radio is dead! Long live CB Radio! Seriously, CB Radio is far from dead around the USA. MY coffee is ready.

07-18-2024 - According to local news reports, a company that buys and sells shopping malls has sold Sikes Senter Mall to another company that buys and sells shopping malls. Maybe Wichita Falls should pull the plug on the mall and try something new. If I were a zillionaire, I'd buy the building and turn it into a restaurant mall. I'd probably host only locally-owned eateries. I might host a hamfest on the concourse. That's an Amateur (ham) Radio swapfest for you non-hams.In the early 1980s, a gun show was held on the concourse, so a hamfest should be allowed. I'll probably never be a zillionaire.

07-18-2024 - From the U.S. Federal Communications Commission: The Federal Communications Commission today voted to end exorbitant phone and video call rates that have burdened incarcerated people and their families for decades. Get the details here.

07-18-2024 - I made contact with KC3SJ at White Hall State Historic Site (US-3787) in Kentucky on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.

07-18-2024 - Good Morning! I haven't worked any Parks on the Air® stations the last few days because of various home maintenance chores. Unknown if I'll be on the radio much today. I'm looking forward to cooler weather so I can do my park hunting from some of our city parks. City parks don't qualify for the Parks on the Air® program, but that doesn't mean I can't roast some hot dogs, play radio, and get fresh air all at the same time. Speaking or parks, I saw listed on the POTA spotter page: Public Shooting Grounds State Waterfowl Management Area in Utah. Very interesting. Right now, my fresh coffee is ready!

07-17-2024 - I spun the dial on the Yaesu 857D to 27 MHz to check for activity on CB Radio. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone on the CB Radio is a butthead. Many CB'ers use good technique and etiquette on the band, especially on the DX channels such as Channel 38, lower sideband. As you might or might not know, the FCC removed the 155-mile restriction in 2017. The 4-watt power output restriction remains. I'm sure everyone is observing that limit!

07-17-2024 - During the Wichita Falls catastrophic drought over a decade ago, I was worried that our Amateur (ham) Radio Skywarn® Storm Spotters would have to buy, build, or rent a thunderstorm simulator to maintain proficiency. You can get those on Amazon, right?

At this moment, I have a handheld cup of Folgers Black Silk coffee to take care of.
