07-27-2024 - Good Morning. It's 5:30 AM, and I've got the Paris Olympics men's gymnastics on the TV. I found a note on my door yesterday offering to re-paint the address on my curb. I'll accept that offer. Some local Amateur (ham) Radio operators will probably have breakfast at Pioneer #3 this morning. That might be the place to be if you're interested in Ham Radio. I'll be headed to the 8th & Austin location of the Farmers Market this morning for some salsa from The Salsa Guy. A few Parks on the Air® contacts might also happen. At 1:24 PM, there will be an International Space Station contact with a school in Arizona. Program 145.800 MHz into your scanner radio, and you might hear the ISS side of the conversation. My coffee is ready!

07-26-2024 - The latest "bad news" for Wichita Falls is the report that the "At Home" store in Sikes Senter Mall will soon be leaving. Is it wrong to say we should just put the mall out of its misery and move on? That might be a little drastic, but I can't see things getting any better in the foreseeable future. We need some "out of the box" thinking on this issue. The store is having a clearance sale, so find a bargain.

07-26-2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, and the only thing on my schedule might be to watch the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics. Maybe. Of course, I might snag a Parks on the Air® station or two if they make themselves available. As I write this, I have worked 259 unique (no duplicates) parks since January 1, 2024. My lawnmowing has slowed somewhat in the last few weeks. I'm sure I'm not watering as much as the lawn would like, but it'll be okay. On the scanner radio, the only people active are our local City transit buses at 453.5375 MHz, the State Hospital at 154.800 MHz, Air Route Traffic Control Centers at 348.650 and 269.250 MHz, and the Allred Unit at 153.815 MHz. I gave the Briggs & Stratton generator its regular exercise run yesterday, so it's ready to go if I ever need it again. My coffee is ready!
