07-27-2023 - I'm up early, and so is the band, with traffic already on the DX Channels 6 and 38. There's also traffic on a few others in between. It was going strong at 2300 last night, so I'm wondering if it ever really shut down.
07-26-2023 - The House Oversight Committee heard testimony today regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), more commonly known as UFOs. I love CB radio, but if space aliens have been intercepting CB Radio communications over the last several decades, I have no doubt that they are in an attack mode!
07-26-2023 - A decade or so ago, I found a storm spotter group in Georgia that used CB Radio rather than Amateur (ham) Radio. I don't know how that worked out. With no repeaters, really high power would have been necessary. Even with that, the thunderstorm-induced static crashes must have been really distracting. CB Radio isn't all-purpose. That's my opinion.
07-26-2023 - You're on Route 66, cruising along at the speed limit of 55 with the CB Radio tuned to Channel 19, but you know the trip is not complete without a stop at a Whiting Brothers gas station! Those were the days!
07-26-2023 - On Channel 38 LSB, I hear Double 6 in Wisconsin, 148 in Indiana, 517 in Michigan, 837 in Alabama, 172 in Iowa, and 1414 in Chicago. The Chicago station 1414 has the best audio I've ever heard on CB Radio, or any other radio, for that matter.
07-26-2023 - Sometimes, when the band is wide open as it is now, I'll count the number of times I hear "No doubt about it" and wish I had a dollar for each of them. On Channel 38 LSB I hear 145 in Wisconsin, 813 in Georgia, and 202 in Chicago. No, they didn't say "No doubt about it".
07-26-2023 - The band was starting to come alive a few minutes ago, with hints of voices on channels 6, 11, and 38. At 0800, those voices have faded away. Not to worry, they'll be back later and they'll be screaming!
07-26-2023 - Truckers were using profanity on Channel 19. I picked up the mic and said "Please watch your language, there are truckers out there and they're not used to hearing that kind of talk." That got a few laughs. It is what it is folks, bad words happen now and then on the CB Radio.
07-26-2023 - In a parallel universe, there exists a country where CB Radio is more popular than the Internet. CB radios come as standard equipment on all motor vehicles. People use them to call in orders at their favorite eatery and conduct other business. Digital codes containing the "owner identification number" ride along with each transmission. Intentional interference is rare and dealt with by summary execution.
07-26-2023 - I'm on my first cup of coffee this morning and listening to two local truckers on Channel 19 discussing the day ahead. The band has yet to open, so things are quiet right now. It's times like this when I sometimes hear the distant chatter of truckers as they approach the city. The closer they get, the louder they get. On the way out of town, the signals get weaker until they fade away. Little things like that are part of the fun of CB Radio.

07-25-2023 - The band is shut down from one end to the other here in Texas. That's CB Radio - ups and downs throughout the day. It'll be back. Until then, there's always local traffic on Channel 19.
07-25-2023 - I've been doing a lot of computer work, but I've had the CB running in the background. I heard 610 in Kentucky, 547 in Illinois, 517 in the Great Lakes area, 413 in Tennessee, World Radio 1277 in Tennessee, and 309 in Indiana. Most were on Channel 38 LSB, but one was on Channel 28 AM.
07-25-2023 - On CB Radio Channel 38 LSB, it seems that 813 in Georgia has the best conditions because he's the only one I can hear clearly over the last half-hour. Let's see what the day brings. On Channel 19, there's a spattering of local trucking traffic. When the band opens up, as it's slowly trying to do, those truckers will be drowned out by skip shooters.
07-25-2023 - The thing about local CB Radio communications is that it's not always local. I don't know how many times I've heard operators from other states break into a local "rag chews" to let them know they're being heard.
07-25-2023 - It's coffee time! The band is quiet except for a light signal on Channel 38 LSB. I recognize the voice but I can't remember his handle. Things will pick up as conditions improve.
07-24-2023 - The term "73", used by Ham Radio and CB Radio operators, means Best Regards. The plural form 73s, often heard on CB Radio, is improper because Best Regards is already plural. But hams say funny stuff, too. You'll hear some say "This is WX5YYY for ID". Of course it's for ID. The only reason you have a call sign is to identify your station.
07-24-2023 - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, along with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, seized a shipment of school supplies in San Juan, P.R., recently that violated federal law regulating misbranded hazardous substances or banned hazardous substances. CBP officers inspected a shipment manifested as “School Supplies,” valued at more than $54,000. Officers observed that the products did not display the required Consumer Product Safety Act Tracking labels. Officers contacted a CPSC Inspector who corroborated the violation.
07-24-2023 - The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter just flew by overhead, and I hear traffic at Kickapoo airport. Listen to Kickapoo at 122.700 MHz and Air Evac Lifeteam at 159.900 MHz on your scanner.
07-24-2023 - The FCC Enforcement Bureau issued a Notice of Illegal Pirate Radio Broadcasting (NIPRB) per its authority from the PIRATE Act to nine differnt property owners in Miami for allowing illegal broadcasting from their property. Interesting!

07-24-2023 - The CB Radio band is coming alive and the heterodynes on Channel 19 are musical. I don't get that effect on any other channel. Is it the multitude of truckers across the USA causing it? I can't think of anything else that sets 19 apart from the rest of the band. I like it.
