10-22-2024 - 6:00 AM - Good Morning! I usually start my day with Morse code on the 40-meter band running in the background while my coffee is brewing. This morning is no different. Wichita Falls has entered Stage 1 drought condistions because the capacities of lakes Kickapoo and Arrowhead have dropped below 65%. This is not what we need headed into Winter.
10-21-2024 - I made contact with WK0E at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (US-2615) in Nebraska on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
10-21-2024 - According to local news reports, Wichita Falls will soon get an Amazon "last-mile" distribution center. The location will be the Wichita Falls Business Park near Fisher Road. That'll put a dent in any unemployment problems we might have.
10-21-2024 - Have you seen these pads northeast of Iowa Park, on the north side of Bacon Switch Road, between Peterson Road and Rifle Range Road? Helipads? Sheppard AFB did have helicopters in the 1960s. A remote rendezvous point for Fort Wolters helicopter students? A spaceport? Building foundations? I first saw them in the early 1980s when I did a lot of flying at the Wichita Valley Airport. Very interesting.

10-21-2024 - Either I didn't know or forgot that we had a "Wichita Falls Steelers" semi-pro football team. They were part of the American Football Association and had an office in the Fremar Valley Shopping Center at 3108 Seymour Highway. I saw this while thumbing through the 1978 Wichita Falls City Directory.

10-21-2024 - Good Morning! It's Monday, and early voting begins today. The Dodgers beat the Mets and will go to the World Series vs the Yankees. I'm listening to CW (Morse code) on the 40-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band for practice. I have contacted 373 stations in the Parks on the Air® program since January 1 of this year. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

10-20-2024 - According to a report on Texoma's Home Page (KFDX Channel 3), another person has died after driving into the concrete barricade at the south side of the intersection of Sheppard Access Road and North Scott. I think this is the third such incident at that location over the last five years.
10-20-2024 - It's Simplex Sunday, a day to give those Amateur Radio repeaters a break if possible and flex those simplex muscles. It's like giving your generator a regular run. Use the more inclusive two-meter FM simplex. Analog, please! GMRS users, you can play, too!
