09-26-2023 - The Clay County Amateur Radio Club conducts a weekly Skywarn practice net at 2000 (8 PM) on the club's 146.680 MHz repeater. All licensed Amateur Radio Operators are invited to check in. Scanner listeners are also encouraged to tune in.
09-26-2023 - The Allred Unit radio was interesting this evening. With 3,700 (plus or minus) offenders housed there, it can get interesting fast and often. Tune in at 153.815 MHz with your scanner.
09-26-2023 - From the U.S. Federal Communications Commission: The Enforcement Bureau (Bureau) of the Federal Communications Commission has agreed to amend the terms of its 2020 Consent Decree with T-Mobile US, Inc., doing business as Assurance Wireless USA, L.P. (T-Mobile or the Company) to resolve the Bureau’s investigation into whether T-Mobile had violated the Commission’s Lifeline rules regarding the submission of claims for ineligible subscribers due to non-usage after the effective date of the 2020 Consent Decree. To settle this matter, T-Mobile, or any party acting on its behalf, shall pay an additional $7,500,000 civil penalty.
09-25-2023 - Remember to keep 145.800 MHz in rotation on your scanner because you never know when you'll hear an astronaut onboard the International Space Station talking to a school student on a scheduled contact or a random Ham Radio operator on the ground!
09-24-2023 - The band remains wide open. CB Radio Channel 38 is jam-packed. You'd have to make an appointment a week in advance to get in there. There hasnt been as much skip-shooting on Channel 19 as I expected, and that's a good thing. However, someone is testing out their newest (or oldest) noise toy on Channel. It's CB Radio, good, bad, and ugly.

I'm thanking you in advance because AMAZON, correctly, doesn't identify you to me.
09-24-2023 - I spent one hour on the exercise bike this morning. Instead of the CB Radio, I watched a YouTube video of a snowy train ride in Japan. Very relaxing. Once off the bike, I turned the CB Radio back on to find the band is alive! The usual "DX" channels are jumping, and there's traffic on most other channels. I think we're getting very near "solar maximum" for this cycle.
09-24-2023 - A few years ago, I was working on my massive Zero Five ground plane antenna. Before going outside, I happened to hear one of those CB Radio shop ads on Channel 19. I knew that station was several hundred miles away. After removing the vertical element from the antenna, I went back inside for something. That same station was still booming in, reaching the short section of wire that connects from the vertical element to the "unun" transformer.
09-24-2023 - It's coffee time! There's not a peep to be heard on the CB Radio yet, but that's normal. It's Sunday, and trucking traffic will be extra-light today. I'm sure conditions will make up for it later this morning.
09-23-2023 - I'm watching the Texas-Baylor game on TV and listening to the G4FON Morse trainer in my headphones. The program is set to 20 words per minute, doing common words.

09-23-2023 - Someone working Parks on the Air® is racking up the contacts on 14.060 MHz. I'd throw in my call but I'm busy watching Coach Prime being quacked by the Oregon Ducks.
