10-03-2023 - Speaking of coffee, if you're in line at Starbucks at Kemp & Kell in Wichita Falls, leave now and drive across the street to Frank & Joe's Coffee in Parker Square. You can go to Starbucks tomorrow!
10-03-2023 - Good morning! It's coffee time once again. I'm enjoying my first cup along with a flashback of an Army event. It was 1977, in San Francisco, and I was driving an Army bus, coming back from a military funeral with the honor guard. We were in the Broadway Street tunnel. Most everyone was asleep. I eased open the door, shut off the ignition, let that massive exhaust pipe load up with unburned gas, turned it back on, and BOOOOM! Sleepers jumped up, blast victim's tires screeched, horns blew, and a woman pulled up by the door and screamed that she was going to report us for throwing bombs.
10-02-2023 - From my corrections consultant - It was visitation time. One offender's time was up, and he told his young son - around five years old - that it was time for him to go home. The kid says, "And it's time for you to go back to jail!" Light laughter erupted in the room. The offender, with a slightly embarrassed look, says "Yes, and it's time for you to stay out of jail!"
10-02-2023 - The heterodynes are screaming on CB Radio Channel 19 this afternoon. Local stations are having a little bit of a tough time breaking through it unless they're close to each other.
10-02-2023 - Former WF daycare worker pleads to abuse charges, Final defendants plead in Carolyn High murder, Man arrested after shooting at Country Park Apartments, Convicted sexual predator sentenced to prison, Unresponsive baby declared deceased, WFPD investigating, Jury returns 55-year sentence for child sex crimes.
10-02-2023 - After several hours of listening to Morse code, it's back to the CB Radio for awhile. The scanner radio is usually always running.
10-02-2023 - The 20-meter Amateur (ham) Radio is active now with plenty of CW (Morse code) signals across the sub-band.
10-02-2023 - It's count time again at the Allred Unit. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice requires units to conduct eight (8) counts per 24-hour period. The Allred Unit conducts nine (9) counts. Unless, of course, there's been a recent change. Speaking of Allred, the unit runs a lot of "ICS* drills" on the radio. If you're not paying attention, you might mistake them for actual incidents. * Incident Command System.
10-02-2023 - A lot of talk on the local Amateur (ham) Radio 147.140 MHz repeater. Tune in with your scanner.
10-02-2023 - Years ago, my wife asked me to help come up with a name for her arts & crafts group. My offering was L.A.D.I.E.S. - League of Artists, Designers, Inkers, Embossers & Stampers. Not being able to leave well enough alone, I offered an alternative name in case they didn't like L.A.D.I.E.S. - Bureau of Inking, Tinting, Collaging, Hot-Gluing, Engraving & Stamping.

10-02-2023 - An Allred Unit Correctional Officer knew that officers working some of the gates were not thoroughly checking the passes of offenders passing through those gates. To test his theory, he gave one offender a pass, and on that pass listed items that the offender was authorized to have with him, including a hand grenade and other silliness. Sure enough, the offender passed through those gates unmolested. Who got molested? The officer who issued the pass for running an unauthorized test. Tune in to Allred operations at 153.815 MHz on your scanner.
10-02-2023 - A young mother was ordering from the deli at the I-44 Walmart. Her son, about 2 years old, was behind her. To amuse himself, he was down on all fours, licking the floor. When mom saw this, she came unglued. I hope the kid is still alive but I'm afraid he might be a Walmartian now.
10-02-2023 - Morse code is a little sparse this morning on the Ham Radio bands. Maybe it's coffee time for everyone. Switching to CB Radio to see what the truckers are up to.
10-02-2023 - Wichita Falls has a sister city, and that city is Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany. I don't mean to be rude, but every time I hear that name I think of the intersection of two streets.

10-01-2023 - While in the self-checkout line at a local Walmart, a representive of "that Walmart bank" hit me up to open an account with them. I told the young gentleman that I've had the same account number for over 45 years and to change now would be bad luck. He countered with the suggestion that I could open an extra account to hide money from my wife! Tune in to any Wichita Falls Walmart at 154.570 MHz on your scanner.
10-01-2023 - According to a report by Ishiron Aviation, Wichita Falls air passengers will soon be flying on the Embraer E170, courtesy of American Airlines (American Eagle). This is expected to happen by December or January. Research tells me this plane ceased production in 2017. Not to worry, airframes can last a human lifetime.
