06-21-2025 - Good Morning! It's Saturday, and, as usually happens, a group of local Amateur (ham) Radio Operators have an informal get-together at Cracker Barrel on I-44. On the air, the Montague County Simplex Net will kick off at 9:00 AM on 147.500 MHz. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
06-20-2025 - From the U.S. Federal Trade Commission - Walmart will pay $10 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it turned a blind eye to scammers who used its in-store money transfer services to take hundreds of millions of dollars from U.S. consumers.
06-20-2025 - Is it just me, or is the term "data breach" becoming normalized? I'm just about ready to place data breach in the same category as the F-Bomb, which is now, due to overuse, nothing more than a tiny firecracker in its effect on the senses. /p>
06-20-2025 - 2:59 PM - I contacted a station in Flynn Township State Game Land (US-6674) in Michigan 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program. POTA hunter count: 540.
06-20-2025 - No wonder I have a headache! I just found out today is the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice. My favorite day is the Winter Solstice, December 21, 2015, the year's shortest day. My mood will improve daily from here on out!
06-20-2025 - The Spectrum salespeople inside Walmart are a pain. I changed directions to avoid one, and he followed me. Today, I was blindsided by a water filter salesperson at Home Depot. Put them outside where they belong.
06-20-2025 - From the U.S. Federal Trade Commission - The operator of the Ganadores scam that made false or unsubstantiated earnings claims in selling real estate and ecommerce business opportunities, will be banned from the industry and required to turn over assets as a result of a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit. The FTC sued Shemin as part of a case against Ganadores, claiming that the operation cost consumers millions of dollars. According to the complaint, Shemin and Ganadores pitched an “infallible system” that could help consumers replace their day jobs and give their families financial independence. Consumers paid exorbitant amounts—sometimes tens of thousands of dollars—for training and coaching that did not live up to those promises.

06-20-2025 - Another oversized load is going through town with driver and pilot cars working on CB Radio Channel 19. The band is opening this morning. The AM heterodynes are singing away but are not disrupting local communications.
06-20-2025 - It was early 1976 when I began to venture into the City of San Francisco after being assigned to the U.S. Army post, the Presidio of San Francisco. One of the first businesses that caught my eye was a nightclub called "Dance Your Ass Off." I thought, "Toto, we're not in Wichita Falls anymore!"

06-20-2025 - Have you noticed a general news blackout regarding the James V. Allred Unit? There are academies, promotions, retirements, awards, officer assaults, and the like, but we never hear about them. A news conference is held if a WFPD officer gets a paper cut. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. I don't know if this is how TDCJ wants things or if our local news media ignores Allred. It's a public agency. Go there. Get the news! Tune in to the Allred Unit with your scanner at 153.815 MHz. At least you'll have some idea of what's going on. Better yet, work there for six months and you'll get a real education!
