07-17-2025 - 1:45 PM - An oversized load is coming through town, and radio operations are being conducted on the Multi-Use Radio Service frequency of 151.940 MHz. This is the first time I've heard MURS used in this capacity. Nice, quiet communications. Awesome.

07-17-2025 - 3:00 PM - I hear one of those CBers who ends every transmission with a "roger" posed as a question. It's like talking to someone and ending every sentence with "did you get that? This guy seems to be enjoying the hobby, so I'll leave him alone.

07-17-2025 - 3:45 PM - Another oversized load is coming through town with operations on CB Radio Channel 19. This channel is the most commonly used for oversized loads in my area. Still, other channels are also utilized, and even the Multi-Use Radio Service has been employed, as I mentioned above.

07-16-2025 - 6:00 AM - Good Morning! It's Wednesday! The band is not waking up as early this morning as it did yesterday. We all like to sleep in sometimes. Get your handheld radio and activate an Aeronautical Mobile Pop-Up Event. Why should the Ham Radio people have all the fun? My coffee is ready!

07-16-2025 - 6:15 AM - Current National Short Range Weather Forecast

07-16-2025 - 6:30 AM - Local traffic is picking up here at the CB Radio Report, with the usual crew operating on Channel 1 (I still haven't identified them) and trucking traffic on Channel 19. There is still no evidence of any long-distance communications, but it won't be long.

07-16-2025 - 10:00 AM - Do you recall when the Nissan Xterra was introduced? The tagline was "Everything you need, nothing you don't". I know a guy who bought one and ordered, pre-delivery, every accessory imaginable—everything except a CB Radio.

07-16-2025 - 11:40 AM - I hear at least three guys, maybe four, chatting it up on Channel 25 as they pass through town. These guys are not moving an oversized load, but it could be a convoy of some sort. One of them has been through here before, as evidenced by his giving "proper lane" and other instructions to the others. The band is quiet right now, so that's something they don't have to deal with. Sometimes the squelch knob works, sometimes it doesn't. CB Radio is dead! Long live CB Radio!

07-16-2025 - 4:00 PM - The world's largest Buc-ee's opened last year in Luling, Texas. The address is 10070 I-10, Luling, TX 78648. I try to stop at every Buc-ee's I see. So far I've only seen one and that's the one across TX 114 from the Texas Motor Speedway. Maybe I need to get out more often.

07-16-2025 - 4:30 PM - From the U.S. Federal Communications Commission - FCC ENFORCEMENT BUREAU ISSUES NOTICE OF ILLEGAL PIRATE RADIO BROADCASTING (NIPRB) TO XXXXXX. The FCC Enforcement Bureau issued a Notice of Illegal Pirate Radio Broadcasting (NIPRB) per its authority from the PIRATE Act to Washington landowner for allowing illegal broadcasting from their property.. by NIPRB. EB. Names removed by Wichita Falls Radio as being irrelevant. Don't be a pirate!

07-16-2025 - 5:00 PM - The 27 MHz band has been almost dead the whole afternoon. Mother Nature has locked it down well. Things may improve this evening. We shall see. Some will say that if I had paid attention to "space weather" forecasts, I would know what to expect. I like my method better. I turn on the radio, and either the band is open, or it's not. Your mileage may vary.

07-16-2025 - 6:15 PM - The Local Group is on the air on Channel 23, and the DX is starting to return across the rest of the band. A member of the group took the time for a short chat with a station in Kentucky. The band is open for business.

07-16-2025 - I haven't heard the CB Radio Sultan of Splatter in a few years. He frequently appeared on Channel 6, the "superbowl", but he could also be heard splattering on channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 simultaneously. He didn't understand that power expended on those unintended channels was power he didn't have on 6, his intended channel. Physics. I just found out that actor Tom Savini is nicknamed the Sultan of Splatter for his horror effects. I might have to come up with a new name for the CB Sultan. Or maybe Tom can get a CB radio with a splattering, POS amplifier.

07-15-2025 - 5:20 AM - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, and I have what sounds like an oversized load coming through town with operations conducted on Channel 15. There's a bit of traffic on Channel 19, and something local is afoot on Channel 10. One of the guys on 19 sounds like he's talking through a box of rubber bands. I don't understand what he's trying to achieve in the "audio quality" department, but if he's happy, I'm happy. It's going to be a good CB Radio day!

07-15-2025 - 7:15 AM - Channel 1 is alive locally with trucking chatter. Channel 11 is on fire already with skip shooters. Channels 21 and 22 are skip-active as well. Channel 6, the "superbowl", is trying to catch up. That shouldn't be a problem. The good CB Radio day continues.

07-15--2025 - 9:30 AM - I just heard that woman broadcasting that truck stop ad on Channel 19. I think she's near Amarillo. It could also be in Nevada. She's been doing it for years, so it must be working. If not, it didn't cost anything but 30 seconds of her time and a glance over her shoulder for "Uncle Charlie" who, in all liklihood, will never show up.

07-15-2025 - 5:00 PM - The band remains alive and well this afternoon. Channel 14 is jam-packed. It could be busy most of the time and I'm just missing the action during my scans.

07-15-2025 - 7:00 PM - The Local group, usually appearing at 5:30 PM on Channel 23, has not materialized. I heard one member calling out to the others, but there was no response. They must have other pressing matters to attend to.

07-15-2025 - 7:45 PM - I tuned in to the MLB All-Star Game just in time to see the first-ever use of the Automated Ball-Strike System. For this game, they're using ABS as a means to challenge calls made by the Home Plate Umpire. First use: a call of a ball was changed to a strike. I kind of like it, especially since it only took about 15 seconds or so to see the ABS "picture."

07-15-2025 - 8:45 PM - Two men have been chewing the rag on Channel 13 for some time. It sounds like this is a regular event for them. I don't think they're local because the signal strength is varying too much. Band conditions are still good.
