08-08-2025 - 6:40 AM - The Hotter'N Hell Hundred bike ride is happening soon. You can listen in on all the behind-the-scenes communications provided by area Amateur (ham) Radio operators. Frequencies commonly used are 147.140, 149.940, and 444.000 MHz. I'm told that hams have provided communications for the HHH in all but one year. That one year, the HHH folks decided that they could run the operation using cell phones. They were back to Ham Radio the next year. Cell phones provide communication between two people. Ham Radio enables everyone on the network to be aware of any issues, anywhere, in real-time.

08-08-2025 - 6:15 PM - The Local Group is on the air on CB Radio Channel 23. They're always on the air on Channel 23 at this time of the evening. Well, almost always. Tune in.
08-08-2025 - 6:45 PM - According to news reports, the lone bid on the Kirby Middle School building on Loop 11 (the loop that doesn't loop) was submitted by the City of Wichita Falls. The Wichita Falls Police Department was mentioned. Will they be the new tenant? If so, how much of the WFPD will move there? I'm unsure if I'll follow up on this because it's not a very interesting subject. At least, not for me.
08-08-2025 - 9:45 PM - I hear activity on 462.662 MHz. The "roger beep" after each transmission is a possible indicator that these are "bubble pack" Family Radio Service handheld radios.
08-07-2025 - 8:50 AM - Good Morning! It's Thursday, and I'm starting a bit later than usual with my first post. Better late than never! Well, your opinion on that might vary. The heat continues. I got some yard work done yesterday, as planned. How much radio work I get done remains to be seen. I had my coffee earlier, but I think it's time for more!

08-07-2025 - 9:30 AM - Yet another so-called Elvis fan has posted that he performed in Wichita Falls on June 19, 1972. How can they be a real fan and not know that Elvis performed in Wichita, Kansas, and not Wichita Falls? And then, there's the one claiming that Pizza Hut was started in Wichita Falls. That, too, had its roots in Wichita, Kansas.
